Tatsat Banerjee was born and brought up in Kolkata, spent some time in Kanpur, and is currently living in Baltimore. After completing his school education from Hindu School, Tatsat has received his Bachelor of Engineerig and Master of Technology degrees, both in Chemical Engineering, from Jadavpur University and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, respectively. In 2016, he joined the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering PhD program at the Johns Hopkins University.
Since 2017, Tatsat has been working in the laboratories of Prof. Peter N Devreotes (Department of Cell Biology, School of Medicine) and Prof. Pablo A Iglesias (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Whiting School of Engineering) to dissect how biophysical properties of plasma membrane integrate rich biochemical and genetic information to regulate cellular dynamics, especially polarity and migration.
